2027 Mexican local elections

6 June 2027

The 2027 Mexican local elections are scheduled to be held on 6 June 2027, concurrently with the 2027 federal elections. Voters will elect 17 governors, members of 31 local congresses, and numerous municipal authorities.

Gubernatorial elections will be held in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Nayarit, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tlaxcala and Zacatecas, currently governed by the National Regeneration Movement (Morena); in Aguascalientes, Chihuahua and Querétaro, currently governed by the National Action Party (PAN); in Nuevo León, currently governed by the Citizens' Movement (MC); and in San Luis Potosí, currently governed by the Green Ecological Party of Mexico (PVEM).[1] Incumbents are not eligible for re-election and, with the exception of Sonora,[2] the governors elected in 2027 will serve until 2033.

Mexico City and 30 of the nation's states will elect new local congresses. The exception is Coahuila, which held local elections in 2026. Members of local congresses serve three-year terms.[3]
