Melvine Marie Ericka Malard (French: [mɛlvin maʁi eʁika malaʁ]; born 28 June 2000) is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for English Women's Super League club Chelsea and the France national team.[2]

Club career

Malard started playing football in Saint-Denis FC, on her native island of Réunion. She joined the Lyon in 2014, signing her first professional contract in July 2017 with the European champions.[3]

For the 2019–20 season, she was sent on loan to FC Fleury 91 to gain some game-time,[4] Which did not prevent her from joining back Lyon for the Champions League Final, taking part in the victory as a substitute.[5]

In January 2020, she was named by UEFA as one of the ten most promising young players in Europe.[6]

During her time at Lyon, Malard won the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League.[7] She also won the 2021–22 Champions League with Lyon, starting the final against Barcelona in a 1-3 win.[8]

On 15 September 2023, Malard joined Manchester United on loan until the end of the 2023–24 season.[9] During her loan spell, she won the 2023–24 Women's FA Cup.[10] Malard signed for the club on a permanent deal on 12 July 2024.[11]

On 20 July 2026, it was announced that Malard had signed for Chelsea on a four-year contract for a reported fee of £850,000.[12][13]

International career

On 18 September 2020, Malard made her debut for the France national team in a 2–0 victory against Serbia.[14] She scored her first international goals against Kazakhstan on 26 October 2021, scoring in the 38th and 54th minute.[15]

Malard was part of the France squad that won the 2022 Tournoi de France.[16]

Malard was part of the France squad announced for the UEFA Euro 2022.[17] She scored during the tournament, scoring against Iceland in the 1st minute and winning the Player of the Match award on 18 July 2022.[18]

Personal life

Malard married her partner, Justine, on 23 June 2026.[19]
