The 1977 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 83rd staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board in 1887.[1]
James Stephens were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Fenians in the semi-finals.[2][3]
The final was played on 6 November 1977 at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, between Fenians and Rower-Inistioge, in what was their first ever meeting in the final.[4] Fenians won the match by 3–11 to 1–10 to claim their fifth championship title overall and a first title in three years.[5]
