Portrait of Thomas Oldham Barlow is an oil on canvas portrait painting by the British artist John Everett Millais, from 1886.[1] It depicts his fellow artist, the mezzotint engraver Thomas Oldham Barlow. Barlow had previously engraved many works by Millais and he is shown with a painting in front of him.
Millais had been a notable member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood earlier in the century but he late became an established member of the Royal Academy, acclaimed for his polished portraits. The painting was displayed at the Royal Academy Exhibition of 1886 held at Burlington House in London.[2] Today it is in the collection of Gallery Oldham in Greater Manchester, the sitter's native town, having been acquired in 1888.[3]
