Reception

Both Kirkus Reviews and the School Library Journal reviewed the first print volume.[2][16] Kirkus Reviews described it as an "adorable adventure with a thrilling ending", and praised Morgana as a "sweetly naïve protagonist". Comic Book Resources gave the first volume a ranking of 8 out of 10, and praised the narrative pacing, humor derived from Oz's feline form, and the lettering.[3] Book Riot included it in a list of "The Best Comics We Read July-September 2024".[17]

The series was a nominee for the 2025 Harvey Award for Digital Book of the Year.[18] The Volume 1 print was also included on the 2025 Great Graphic Novels for Teens Reading List by the American Library Association.[19]

I love listening to movie and game soundtracks, and the ones with a magical touch are accompanying me while I write the scripts for Morgana and Oz. Especially music by Cecile Corbel and Yann Tierson have been an inspiration. I'm also very lucky to have music by Isabella LeVan in some of my WEBTOON episodes. She's incredibly talented, so she knew exactly what I wanted for my story. When it comes to movies, I obviously took inspiration from Ghibli movies like Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle. There might have been even more inspiration that came from Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle and Chronicles of Chrestomanci books. In my teens I loved series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and musicals like Dance of the Vampires
