Miss Grand Myanmar 2026 was the fourth edition of the Miss Grand Myanmar pageant. It was originally scheduled to be held on 9 May 2026 at the Eravati Sule Grand Hotel in Yangon.[1][2] A total of twenty-seven contestants representing different cities were selected through local license holders to compete in the contest.[1][2] However, one contestant was later disqualified following an incident during the national costume competition.[3]

The pageant was subsequently postponed indefinitely after the organizer became subject to legal action initiated by the government. The controversy stemmed from a contestant wearing a costume considered to have negatively affected the image of religion during the national costume segment.[3][4]

After the issue was resolved, Cristine Nan Seng, who represented Hpakant in the competition, was appointed on 20 July as Myanmar's representative to Miss Grand International 2026 following an offline evaluation by the organizing team, which also announced four runners-up and the Top 10 finalists, instead of resuming the previously postponed competition.[5]

Background

Date and venue

The national costume competition was held on 5 May 2026 at the Eravati Sule Grand Hotel in Yangon.[6][2] The preliminary and final rounds were originally scheduled for 7 and 9 May 2026, respectively.[1][2] However, both events have been postponed indefinitely[7][8] as the organizer faces legal action from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture of Myanmar.[9][10] This follows an incident in which Miss Tachileik appeared on stage during the national costume competition wearing a nun costume, which prompted public dissatisfaction.[11][12]

Selection of contestants

As in previous editions, contestants for this year’s competition were selected through regional pageants or casting processes conducted by local licensees.[13] In addition, the central organizing committee opened applications to recruit further candidates.
