Manheim Township High School's (MT) first building was by architect Henry Y. Shaub started construction in 1928 at 17 School Road.[6] The school would cater to white students from 7-12th students, graduating its first class of 86 students in 1949.[5] Integration did not occur until after the Supreme Court's 1954 Brown vs Board of Education ruling.[7]

Once the community's educational needs exceeded MT's capacity the school relocated to its current 115 Blue Streak Boulevard building in 1978. MT's first building would be repurposed for students of many grade levels.[5]

Manheim Township School District approved a $83 million renovation in 2006. The plan called for removed or renovated to the school's 1978-era buildings and adding a new 3 story wing of classrooms.[8] Renovations were completed in December 2008. MTSD also approved renovations the indoor pool and convocation hall where were untouched by the 2006 renovation.[9]

Academics

Students at Manheim Township High School (MT) are required to follow the standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The standards state a student must complete 22 credit hours to graduate in the following areas:

  • English - 4 credits
  • Social Studies - 4 credits
  • Arts and Humanities - 1 credit
  • STEM - 7 credits
  • Health - 1⁄2 credit
  • Physical Education - 1 1⁄2 credits
  • Financial Literacy - 1⁄2 credit
  • Elective Courses - 3 1⁄2 credits

For a student between 7-11 grades to be considered on track toward graduation must carry a minimum 6 credits each semester with a maximum of 7 credits. In the case that a student is not on track, they may exceed the 7 credit maximum with discretion of MT staff.[10]

Students on track for graduation in 12th grade may reduce their course load to 5 credits. Also, a 12th grade student can have 1 of the 5 credits scored as a 'Pass/Fail' by petitioning guidance counselor, course instruction, and the school's principal. 'Pass/Fail' courses do not affect the students overall Grade Point Average.[10]

The largest facility is named Gene Kruis Field, after the hall-of-fame MT football coach who amassed a 142-55-5 record over a 26-year tenure;[17][18] it accommodates football, track and field, marching band, and other large events. The field underwent an upgrade, converting from natural grass to artificial turf, in 2025. The track surrounding the field was also resurfaced into the traditional red and white colors.[16]

Other MT Athletic Complex facilities include baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, and field hockey and lacrosse fields.[16]
