Esperanzas (English: Hopes) is the second studio album by Mexican pop singer Yuri. It was released on June 28, 1980, through Discos Gamma and Profono Internacional when the singer was sixteen years old.[1][2]
The production marked a significant milestone in Yuri's career, launching her into commercial stardom across Latin America.[3] The album features a mix of original Latin pop ballads and Spanish-language adaptations of international hits, including Charlie Smalls' "Ease on Down the Road" from the musical The Wiz.[4] Concurrently with the album's promotion, Yuri's rising public profile led to her acting debut in major Mexican telenovelas of the era, such as Colorina.
