The general chairman of United Development Party (Ketua Umum Partai Persatuan Pembangunan) is the highest position and executive authority within United Development Party. Although the party is dominated by Nahdlatul Ulama politicians, the figure who filled the first leadership position was the former leader of Parmusi, who was also the founder of the Kaaba Party namely Mohammad Syafa'at Mintaredja. Furthermore, to elect a new chairman every time the term of office changes, a congress is held.[1]
The current holder of the position is Muhammad Mardiono, who was elected to the position on 28 September 2025, following his victory in the party's leadership election. He has served as Special Presidential Envoy for Food Security. The chairman is not allowed to hold a duplicate department of the Leadership Council on any level of the party.[2]

- ↑ His appointment as interim chairman occurred after Ali's term as chairman ended in 2014.[3] However, Pangkapi's position as acting chairman was only implemented on 25 February 2016, during the national working conference. Over two years, the PPP encountered internal problems, with a dual leadership that led to the postponement of the national working conference two years before the muktamar finally took place.
- ↑ In 2014, Romahurmuziy was appointed as the new chairman at a muktamar held in Surabaya, and another leadership emerged, led by Djan Faridz, who recognized him as Suryadharma Ali's successor, who had also been elected chairman. During this period, the United Development Party (PPP) experienced a dual leadership between Romahurmuziy and Faridz. Ali also disowned the leadership under Romahurmuziy.[4]
- ↑ Muhammad Romahurmuziy was "relieved" as his initiative to the party's top leadership, resigned as chairman before his term ends at the next muktamar in 2021. He resigned after being named a suspect in a corruption case related to position trading within the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. On the same date, the party leadership agreed to appoint a new leader, who would be ratified on 20 March 2019.
