History

After the North Caucasian rebels, led by Beibulat Taimiev, captured and destroyed the fortresses of Amir-Adzhi-Yurt and Zlobny Okop, they advanced on the fortified town of Pregradny Stan. Although they did not manage to take it, they captured several people, burnt down several houses and captured two Licorne cannons.[1][2]

Afterwards, the rebels advanced on Groznaya, but the news of the arrival of Major General Grekov made them change their direction abruptly, instead marching towards the fortress of Gerzel-Aul, where they laid siege to the fortress, but were defeated.[1][2]
