Anaerotardibacter is a monotypic genus of obligately anaerobic, slow-growing, short rod-shaped bacteria in the family Eggerthellaceae. Its only species is Anaerotardibacter muris.[1] The type strain was isolated from the intestinal contents of a laboratory mouse in Germany.[2]
Characteristics
Cells of A. muris are short rods measuring approximately 0.6–1.2 µm in length. Growth on YCFA or modified Gifu anaerobic medium containing 5% blood requires approximately one to three weeks under anaerobic conditions.[2]
Etymology
The generic name combines roots meaning "without air", "slow" and "rod", referring to a slow-growing anaerobic rod. The specific epithet muris means "of a mouse".[1][2]
