A Mi Guitarra (English: To My Guitar) is the sixth studio album by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel. It was released on July 10, 1975, through RCA Victor.[1] The project marks an intimate and reflective period in Gabriel's early career, blending his characteristic Latin pop ballad arrangements with traditional acoustic Mexican folk and Ranchera elements.[2]
The production was helmed by longtime artistic collaborator Eduardo Magallanes, with orchestral arrangements and musical direction divided between specialized regional conductors, including Chucho Ferrer, Pocho Pérez, Lázaro Muñiz, Jean Poll, and Jesús Rodríguez de Híjar.[3] Unlike his preceding high-energy dance arrangements or full mariachi ensembles, *A Mi Guitarra* emphasizes acoustic guitar instrumentation, paying thematic homage to the instrument that accompanied his early songwriting years in Ciudad Juárez. The title track, "A Mi Guitarra," along with the promotional single "Te Propongo Matrimonio," achieved stable radio rotation across Latin America, maintaining Gabriel's consistent market visibility throughout the mid-1970s.[1] The track list also features the dedicated song "De Sol a Sol (A Mis Padres)," which stands out as a highly personal tribute reflecting on his family history and challenging agricultural upbringing.
