The 1972 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 81st staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887.[1]
Moyne–Templetuohy were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Roscrea in the quarter-finals.[2][3]
The final was played on 12 November 1972 at Semple Stadium in Thurles, between Roscrea and Borris–Ileigh, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Roscrea won the match by 5–08 to 3–06 to claim their fourth championship title overall and a first title in two years.[4][5]
