The 1949 Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 40th staging of the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1909.[1] The draw for the first round fixtures took place on 30 January 1949. The championship ran from 3 April to 11 September 1949.
The final was played on 11 September 1949 at the Athletic Grounds in Cork, between Carrigtwohill and Newtownshandrum, in what was their first ever meeting in the final.[2] Carrigtwohill won the match by 3–10 to 3–05 to claim their second championship title overall and their first championship title in 40 years.[3][4][5][6]
