Wuchan Zhongda Group Co., Ltd. (Chinese: 物产中大集团股份有限公司) is a Chinese state controlled conglomerate headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.[1] It is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under stock code 600704 and is supervised through Zhejiang provincial state government interests.[2][3] The group describes its principal activities as supply chain integration, financial services and advanced industrial manufacturing.[1]

The company's supply chain operations cover metals, energy products, chemicals, automobiles and higher value consumer goods, while it's financial businesses include leasing, futures, factoring, asset management, private equity and commodity trading platforms.[1] It's manufacturing interests include wire and steel cable, tyres, stainless steel processing, motor components and magnesium mining and alloy production.[4][5] In the 2025 financial year the group reported revenue of RMB596.46 billion, net income of RMB3.62 billion and total assets of RMB200.99 billion.[1] In 2025, it was ranked the 36th largest manufacturing company in the world, the 38th largest company in China, as well as 149th in the 2025 Fortune Global 500 (having appeared in that ranking continuously since 2011).[6][3]

History

The group traces its origins to Zhejiang's provincial materials administration (Zhejiang Materials Bureau), which was established to allocate and distribute industrial supplies under China's planned economy in the mid to late 20th century.[7] It was reorganised as a corporate group in 1996 as market reforms in China changed the procurement and distribution of industrial commodities.[7]

In 2023, Wuchan Zhongda announced that it would invest up to RMB6.07 billion in Sinatay Life Insurance as part of a restructuring of the insurer.[8]

Corporate incidents

In June 2024, the company disclosed an investigation into copper trading at its subsidiary Wuchan Zhongda International after a counterparty failed to deliver 2,000 tonnes of copper concentrate.[9] Reuters reported that the incident involved a loss of about RMB104 million, equivalent at the time to approximately US$15 million.[9] The group said that it had reported the matter to public security authorities and was examining responsibility and risk control failures within the subsidiary.[9]
