The Uttarpara Rajbari, also known as the Mukherjee House or Uttarpara Palace, is a historic 19th-century palace located in Uttarpara, on the banks of the Hooghly River in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, India. It was built by the prominent philanthropist and zamindar king Raja Jaykrishna Mukherjee.[1][2]

History

Established in the mid-19th century by Jaykrishna Mukherjee, the palace served as the administrative and residential seat of the Mukherjee family, who were prominent figures during the Bengal Renaissance. The estate later expanded under his son, Raja Peary Mohan Mukherjee. The complex is historically noted for hosting nationalist leaders and intellectuals, including Sri Aurobindo, who delivered his famous Uttarpara Speech nearby in 1909.[3][2][4]
