Union Sportive de Mohammédia (الاتحاد الرياضي المحمدية), commonly known as Union Mohammedia or USM, is a Moroccan association football club based in Mohammedia. Founded in 1946, the club historically competed in the top tiers of Moroccan football.[1]
History
Union Sportive de Mohammédia was established in 1946 during the French protectorate era. Following Moroccan independence in 1956, USM joined the national football pyramid under the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
During the 1970s and 1980s, Union Mohammedia enjoyed its most prominent era, competing in the top-flight Botola and building a fierce cross-town derby rivalry with SCC Mohammédia. The club reached the semifinals of the Throne Cup in the 1974–75 season.[2]
In subsequent decades, financial constraints led to successive relegations into Botola Pro 2 and eventually into the divisions governed by the Ligue Nationale du Football Amateur (LNFA).
