In the post-Soviet period, he transitioned to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holding various command and staff positions within mechanized and tank formations.[1] He graduated from the Malinovsky Military Academy of Armored Forces in 1997. From 2006 to 2008, he was Deputy Chief of Staff for Regional Command "East" and later served as Deputy Commander for Combat Training for Regional Command "South".[1]

Command positions

He graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2010,[1] after he was appointed Chief of Staff of Regional Command "South" and subsequently serving as Chief of Staff of Regional Command "Astana".[1] In 2013, he was promoted to commander of the regional command.[1] On 15 November 2016, he became First Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Chief of the Main Staff of the Kazakh Ground Forces to Murat Bektanov.[1][3] From 2019 to 2021, he served as Head of the National Defense University in Astana, succeeding former Defence Minister Saken Zhasuzakov.[1][4] From 2021 to 2024, he was Deputy Minister of Defense for Educational and Ideological Work.[1]
