Seeburger AG (stylized as SEEBURGER) is a German enterprise software company founded in 1986 and headquartered in Bretten, Baden-Württemberg.[3] Its software is used for business-to-business (B2B) data exchange and the digitalization of business processes. The company develops, delivers, and maintains the Seeburger Business Integration Suite (BIS), an integration platform that combines Electronic data interchange (EDI), API management, managed file transfer (MFT), and e-invoicing.[4][5]

Seeburger provides integration technology to organizations worldwide in industries including manufacturing, automotive, logistics, retail, utilities, finance, and the public sector.[6]

History

Bernd Seeburger founded the company in 1986 as a software development company.[7] Its initial focus was on EDI software products for the automotive industry; its first product was WinELKE.[8] During the 1990s, Seeburger developed integration software such as "Jess", used to convert EDI and XML data for SAP R/3 environments.[9]

From the 2000s onwards, the company expanded its cloud business[10] and has since been distributing its integration platform under the name Business Integration Suite.[11] In addition to EDI data exchange, it included applications for internet-based enterprise integration.[12] Since 2012, Seeburger has also offered its software as a managed service. Functions for interfaces and file transfer were later added to the EDI software.[13] The software was increasingly used in other industries, including retail, the energy sector, and banking.[10]

At the end of 2015, founder Bernd Seeburger left the company's management board at the age of 64.[14] He was succeeded by fellow board members Axel Haas and Michael Kleeberg as joint chief executives (co-CEOs).[15] Martin Kuntz has also been a member of the Executive Board since 2015.[16] Bernd Seeburger remained the group's main shareholder after his departure. His daughter Katrin Seeburger, a teacher by profession, joined the supervisory board.[17]

When Seeburger celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2021, it employed around 1,000 people worldwide.[18] In 2025, supervisory board members Simone Zeuchner-Egli, Katrin Seeburger, and Ralph Jacoby were reappointed for another five-year term.[19]

Corporate structure

Seeburger AG, based in Bretten, is the holding company of the Seeburger group. In the 2025 financial year, the group comprised 17 wholly owned subsidiaries in Europe, North America, and Asia in addition to the parent company; in Germany, the subsidiary Seeburger Deutschland GmbH exists alongside the parent company.[2][20] In 2025, the group generated revenue of €171.3 million, of which €91.2 million was earned in Germany and €80.1 million abroad.[2]

Products and market position

Seeburger develops integration software that is used, among other things, for the exchange of electronic invoices and orders. The software prepares data from different sources and systems for further data exchange.[10]

Seeburger's main product is the Business Integration Suite (BIS), a hybrid integration platform. The BIS can be operated on the customer's own infrastructure as well as in various cloud models.[21] Seeburger uses a licensing model in which customers pay a one-time fee for the platform and can purchase additional modules.[22] The BIS Hub component handles the design and orchestration of integrations, including AI-assisted data mapping.[23] It includes connectors and adapters for enterprise systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and Salesforce.[24]

Seeburger offers an integration platform as a service (iPaaS) for the integration of applications, data, APIs, and B2B/EDI processes. It is listed in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for iPaaS published in 2026.[23] As of early 2026, Seeburger's software was used by more than 14,000 companies from industries such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, logistics, financial services, manufacturing, and energy. Users include Daimler, Volkswagen, Maersk, Douglas, and Barilla.[21]

Recognition and certifications

Seeburger Cloud Services are ISO/IEC 27001 certified and have achieved TISAX Assessment Level 2, ISAE 3402 (SOC 1 Type 2), and BSI C5 / ISAE 3000 Type 1 certifications as of 2025.[25] Seeburger participates in industry initiatives and standards bodies that promote interoperability and secure data exchange across business ecosystems.[26] In 2018, the company received a certificate from the United Nations for its long-standing support of the EDIFACT standard.[27] In 2025, Seeburger was named "Family Business of the Year" as part of the Made in Europe Award.[28]
