Early life and education

Auneem spent part of his early childhood living in Iran until the age of six, after which his family returned to Dhaka, Bangladesh.[6] Before transitioning into full-time filmmaking, he worked as a data analyst.[7]

Career

Auneem began his career in the media industry working as an assistant director and editor. In 2013, he co-founded the independent production house Film Noir.[8] He was a producer with the creative platform Projonmo Talkies.[9]

In 2018, Auneem was selected as one of eleven filmmakers to Sincerely Yours, Dhaka (Iti, Tomari Dhaka), the first anthology film produced in Bangladesh.[8] Premiering at the 23rd Busan International Film Festival, the omnibus was later acquired by Netflix and selected as the official Bangladeshi entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards.[10][11]

In 2021, Auneem co-directed the episode "Lights, Camera…Objection" for the Chorki historical anthology series Jaago Bahey. [12] The project received wide critical acclaim and won the National Award for Best Drama Series at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.[13]

As an editor, Auneem edited the streaming projects Unoloukik (2021), Shaaticup (2022), and Kaalpurush (2024).[14][15] His editing work on Kaalpurush earned him the Best Editor accolade at the Blender's Choice–The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2025.[4][5]

In 2024, Auneem co-directed the non-fiction documentary Bidrohe Biplobe (The Rise of Students) with Redoan Rony, focusing on the July Uprising student demonstrations in Bangladesh.[16]
