History

The school's principal building is Dalewood House, which was designed in 1883 by the Victorian architect John Norton. The building was originally constructed as a private residence and was later requisitioned during the Second World War.

In June 2025, the Reigate Grammar School Group announced that Box Hill School would join the group and be renamed RGS Surrey Hills.

The school provides education through the lower, middle and sixth-form years. Its sixth form offers both A-level and International Baccalaureate programmes.

Campus

The school is situated on a countryside campus at Mickleham, near Dorking and Box Hill. Dalewood House is the principal historic building on the site.
