Pantelis Pantelidis Greek: Παντελής Παντελίδης; 23 November 1983 – 18 February 2016) was a Greek laïko singer-songwriter. A self-taught guitarist and former non-commissioned officer in the Hellenic Navy, he became known through videos of his original songs on YouTube before beginning a professional recording career in 2012. Pantelidis died at the age of 32 in a road collision in southern Athens.
Biography
Pantelidis was born in Athens on 23 November 1983 and grew up in Nea Ionia. His mother's family originated from Agrinio, while his father's family came from the Isparta region of Asia Minor.[1][2]
He served as a non-commissioned officer in the Hellenic Navy before leaving the service to pursue a career in music. He was a self-taught guitarist and songwriter.[3]
Career
Before obtaining a recording contract, Pantelidis performed for several years in small music venues and recorded informal performances of songs he had written. Friends began uploading the recordings to YouTube, where they attracted a growing audience.[4]
In February 2012, a video of Pantelidis performing his original song "Den Tairiazete Sou Leo" with an acoustic guitar surpassed one million views and led to a recording contract with Minos EMI. His debut album, Alkoolikes I Nihtes, was released later that year and was certified double platinum.[5]
Between 2012 and 2015, Pantelidis released four studio albums. He also collaborated and performed with Greek artists including Vasilis Karras, Despina Vandi, Paola and Giorgos Mazonakis.[6]
Death
On 18 February 2016, Pantelidis was killed when the vehicle in which he was travelling left the roadway and struck the crash barriers on Vouliagmenis Avenue in Elliniko, southern Athens. He was taken to a hospital in Voula, where he was pronounced dead at the age of 32. The two female passengers in the vehicle survived but sustained serious injuries.[7][8]
The identity of the driver was subsequently disputed by Pantelidis's family. In December 2025, during civil proceedings concerning compensation for the two passengers, the Athens Court of Appeal found that Pantelidis had been driving the vehicle and rejected the family's counterclaim. The court also assigned 50 per cent contributory liability to both passengers for entering a vehicle with a driver who was under the influence of alcohol.[9]
Discography
Pantelidis released four studio albums between 2012 and 2015. Several compilations and a live album were issued after his death.[10]

Unreleased material
Shortly after Pantelidis's death, Greek media reported that approximately 200 unreleased song files had been found stored on his mobile phone and handed to his family.[39] Reports at the time noted that not all of the material had been professionally recorded or scheduled for commercial release.
A number of acoustic or live recordings have circulated online under informal titles, including:[40]
- "Ase Me Na Nioso Tin Anapnoi Sou"
- "Athina"
- "Egina Skia"
- "Ego Ime Edo"
- "Irtha Ego Na Ta Gamiso Ola"
- "Sta Katechomena"
- "Ki Ego Sta Matia Sou Miden"
- "Ligo Chrono Zitises"
- "Me Eiches Brosta Sou"
- "Michani Tou Chronou"
- "Monos Mou"
- "O Alitis Sou"
- "O Trelos"
- "Prokalese Me"
- "Sagineftiki Apati"
- "Simadia Sto Laimo Sou"
- "Sou 'Gine To S' Agapo Sinithia"
The existence of an online recording does not necessarily indicate that a commercial release has been announced. In January 2025, Pantelidis's brother Konstantinos stated that he was recording one previously unreleased composition by Pantelis and that additional songs remained in the family's archive.[41] The composition was subsequently released in 2025 under the title "Dos' Mou Ligo Oxygono", performed by Konstantinos Pantelidis.[42]
