Our Lady's RC Primary School is a co-educational Roman Catholic primary school situated in the Hilltown area of Dundee, Scotland. Governed by Dundee City Council, the school sits just north of the city centre along Alexander Street.
Overview and campus
Since August 2018, Our Lady's has operated from the purpose-built Coldside Campus on Alexander Street.[3] The £16 million modern educational facility operates as a shared site, jointly housing Our Lady's alongside the non-denominational Rosebank Primary School and the Frances Wright Nursery School.[3]
The school heavily incorporates human rights and mutual respect into its daily curriculum. In June 2025, Our Lady's received widespread local recognition when it was awarded the prestigious UNICEF UK Gold Award by the Rights Respecting Schools programme.[4] This is the highest accolade granted by the organisation, acknowledging the school's commitment to placing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the core of its policies and classroom practices.[4]
To improve campus safety and promote active travel, the school collaborates with Dundee Active Travel to run a "Safer Routes to School" initiative. This programme actively reduces vehicular congestion around the main shared entrance during peak hours and encourages pupils to walk or cycle to class.[1]
Secondary cluster
As a Roman Catholic primary school, Our Lady's acts as a direct feeder for St John's RC High School.[2] Once pupils complete Primary 7, they transition to the St John's campus on Harefield Road to continue their denominational secondary education alongside students from five other local Catholic primary schools.
