Maya Satya Bhram (Bengali pronunciation: [maː.jaː sə.t̪jə bʱɾəm]; transl. Illusion Truth Confusion) is a 2026 Indian Bengali-language psychological thriller film written and directed by Samik Roy Choudhury. Produced by Indrani Chattopadhyay, Sanat Chattopadhyay, and Samik Roy Choudhury under the banners of Pinrin Film Production and White Hole Creations, the film features an ensemble cast including Soham Majumdar, Priyanka Sarkar, and debutant Sanat Chattopadhyay in the lead roles, alongside Alexandra Taylor, Paran Bandyopadhyay, and Debesh Roychowdhury in prominent supporting roles.[1]
The film revolves around a police officer investigating two distinct disappearances in Kolkata, a case that eventually leads him to a mysterious spiritual shaman whose past challenges everything he believes about reality, faith, and death. Following a successful run at international film festivals, the film had its theatrical release in India on August 28, 2026.[2]
Synopsis
In Kolkata, a local police station is rattled by two high-profile vanishings. Totoro, the young son of Sub-Inspector Sanjay Konar and his wife Urmila, disappears without a trace. Simultaneously, Sara, a Swedish researcher studying shamans, also goes missing.
As Inspector Sanjay investigates the disappearances, the investigation converges on a single, enigmatic figure: Trilokadarshi Baba. Once a young boy named Tilu, who was scarred by violence and visions of death, Trilok has grown into a seer who claims to perceive the boundaries between worlds. What begins as a standard police procedural turns into a profound psychological journey where logic falters, leaving the characters to grapple with blind faith, manipulation, and buried secrets.[3]
