Iyebiye Adeitan, professionally known as Kaizen Kreativ, is a Nigerian graphic designer, illustrator and visual artist known for his work on promotional artwork and posters for Nigerian films. His designs have been featured in productions including Ayinla, Soólè, Ilé Owó, Obara'M, Mr. Gbenga's Hard Drive and Áfàméfùnà: An Nwa Boi Story.[1][2]
Early life and education
Adeitan studied Theatre and Media Arts at the Federal University Oye Ekiti, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. During his undergraduate years he developed an interest in visual storytelling, illustration and design, later applying those skills to film publicity and branding.[3]
Career
Adeitan is the founder of Kaizen Kreativ, a Lagos-based creative design practice specialising in film poster design, illustration, branding and digital design.[4]
His first major film commission was the promotional artwork for Efunsetan Aniwura in 2020. He subsequently designed posters for several Nigerian films, including Ayinla, Soólè, Ilé Owó, Obara'M, Mr. Gbenga's Hard Drive and Áfàméfùnà: An Nwa Boi Story.[5]
His work combines illustration with contemporary graphic design and has been recognised for contributing to the resurgence of illustrated movie posters in the Nigerian film industry.[6]
Exhibitions
In 2023, Adeitan presented It's a Big Swerve From Ebinpejo Lane, an exhibition exploring the evolution of Nollywood poster art through illustration and visual storytelling. The exhibition featured original artwork inspired by Nigerian cinema and attracted filmmakers, designers and other creative practitioners.[7]
Style
Adeitan's work is characterised by digitally illustrated compositions influenced by classic Nollywood hand-painted posters while incorporating modern graphic design techniques. His designs often combine typography, portrait illustration and cinematic storytelling.[8]
