It was officially launched by Rigathi Gachagua on 15 May 2025 at its headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi.[4] It was formed nearly 6 months after the impeachment of Gachagua as the Deputy President of Kenya.

Following the 29 March 2026 death of Ol Kalou Constituency Member of National Assembly David Njuguna Kiaraho, a by-election was held on 16 July 2026 to fill the vacancy left.[12] On 17 July, Sammy Kamau Ngotho of the DCP was declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in a landslide of 35,440 votes. His closest competitor was Samuel Muchina Nyaga of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) with 5,450 votes, while Wilson Kigwa of the Jubilee Party had 198.
