Catloaf (cat pose)

A cat loafing

Catloaf,[1][2][3] also referred to Cat loafing or loafing is a term describing a cat with its paws tucked under its body and its tail around itself.[4][5][6] The name was coined on the internet in the 1990s.

Origin

The term originated from internet culture in the late 1990s and 2010s. It references the similarity between a loaf of bread and the position of a cat when they tuck their paws under themself.[4][5][7] The term was popularised in the early 2010s by memes on Reddit, Twitter (now X), and Facebook. It has different names like Potato Cat, Tugboat from the "Tuggin'" group and more.[8]
