This category includes people who have severe loss of consciousness similar to a chronic vegetative state, and remain that way for a significant length of time. Rarely, they may eventually recover partially or fully, or they may never emerge to a conscious state. Some of these people did regain full consciousness, but remain severely disabled.

For people who recover consciousness but exhibit behavioral impairments or changes, consider the category "Category:People with brain injuries".
