Camilla Gervide

Camilla Gervide (born Carlqvist,[1] 17 November 1980) is a Swedish blogger and citizen journalist,[2] who runs a celebrity gossip blog named Bloggbevakning.

Education and career

Gervide grew up in Emmaboda, Småland,[3] but later moved to Nybro. After graduating from Åkrahällskolan in Nybro in 1999 she moved to the US to work as a nanny.[4]

In 2003 she began her studies in singing and piano at Musicians Institute in Hollywood[5] from where she received a double examina.[6] She aimed for a career as a musician[7][8] auditioning for Suge Knight at Death Row Records.[9] In 2006 she wrote the theme song to the documentary Tille's resa.[10][11]

Gervide's career as a blogger started in 1999, blogging about her whereabouts in the US. Later on the topic changed and from 2010 she wrote about music in a blog named camillagervide.com.[12] In 2012 she started an additional blog about LCHF dieting where the readers were to follow her journey healing from having, according to herself, "broken her back twice".[13]

Among her jobs over time she has been working as a music columnist at Nyheter24[14] as well as, as mentioned in interviews, working at MTV.[15] She was also frequently interviewed as an expert on the topic of music in various media outlets.[16][17]

Since 2016, she runs the blog Bloggbevakning, publishing daily gossip about influencers.[18] As of 2026, the blog is published through the Swedish news site Nyheter24. Her related Instagram account, also named Bloggbevakning, has 61 000 followers as of July 2026.[19]

Gervide is also a co-host if the celebrity gossip podcast Sanning & Konsekvens, hosted by Nyheter24.[20]

In november 2023 her book De kallar oss influencers (They call us influencers)[21] was published through Mondial.[22][23]

Personal life

Gervide lives in Saltsjö-Boo, Nacka Municipality.[24]

Gervide has openly spoken about her being a sober alcoholic[25] and being diagnosed with fibromyalgia.[26]

Controversy

  • Gervide has been criticized in Swedish media for editing her own Wikipedia page and, while doing so, exaggerating many of her achievements of which many can't be verified through any external sources.[27] Among other things, Gervide claimed to have worked as a studio musician to David Foster, Celine Dion, That 70's Show and American Idol.[28]
  • While Gervide presents the Bloggbevakning blog as being an investigative blog questioning the influencer industry[29] much of the received criticism points out that the vast majority of her posts still consists of gossip,[30] with Gervide focusing more on herself, her personal feuds and conflicts with influencers[31] rather than the underlying structures of the industry.
  • Gervide has repeatedly been criticized for promoting bullying,[32] both through the way she writes about influencers herself and because of how the comment section of the blog is managed. Gervide have adressed the accusations, stating she should be able to investigate the industry without being accused of bullying.[33] In 2021 Swedish influencer Bisse criticized Gervide for posting images of her newborn child while commenting on her appearance as a newly delivered mother which led to the comment section filling up with hateful comments.[34] Gervide responded on Instagram, saying she did not understand why someone who just had a child would read comments about herself and suggested Bisse suffered from self-harm behaviors. Later, both Gervide and the editor in chief at Nyheter24 apologized.[35]
  • In 2012, Gervide criticized VeckoRevyn Blog Awards after losing the prize in the category she was nominated in to a person who did not have a blog, but only used Instagram.[36]

Community engagement

Readers of Bloggbevakning have participated in extensive discussions in the blog's comment sections through a series of posts named Öppet Spår.

Recognition

In 2012, Gervide was nominated for Blogger of the Year in the category 'Årets bloggraket' at the VeckoRevyn Blog Awards.[37]

[My Wikipedia article was just a shell, so I filled it out — mostly with my background as a musician. It was like a CV: among other things, I wrote that I'd interviewed Jennifer Lopez and recorded songs for the musician and producer David Foster. Then I forgot about it until a thread about me started on Flashback, claiming it was all made up. For example, someone wrote that David Foster had no idea who I was. I didn't read the whole thread, but people wrote that I was lying and wanted me to prove everything the Wikipedia article said. But not once was any actual evidence published that I could respond to. It was mostly just opinions. At first I didn't care and felt the burden of proof was on them, but when my loved ones got dragged into it and exposed with photos, I felt enough was enough and deleted much of the Wikipedia page. But everything on it was true. Maybe someone doesn't like the way I phrased it, but that's a different matter. Just as it said, I did interview J-Lo ahead of her show at Globen after her record label arranged a phone interview. I also did the ghost vocals on a song that was sent to Celine Dion and David Foster. The reason he doesn't know who I am is that I recorded the lyrics before they were sent to him. We never met. The only part where I got a bit carried away was when I described the songwriting competition I won at Musicians Institute as 'the biggest one in Los Angeles.' I don't know if it actually is, but its jury consists of A&Rs from some of the very biggest record labels.]

[The extensive text with detailed references to celebrities Camilla Gervide had interviewed, and all the celebrities she worked with during her career as an artist, rubbed some people the wrong way. Her Wikipedia page has been discussed both in podcasts and on internet forums like Flashback and Asterixia. 'I had just graduated from a music school in Los Angeles where we'd been drilled to highlight everything positive about ourselves and our careers, but I realized it was a bit too overblown,' says Camilla Gervide. As an example, the article claimed that she had worked with producer David Foster — who has worked with Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. It was deleted with the justification: 'Cleared a few lies that Camilla herself must have put in. David Foster claims he has no idea who she is.' In reality, she had just been one of thousands of singers who had sung on various demos for him.]
