Bar Sprezzatura is a bar and restaurant in the Financial District of San Francisco, California, United States.[1] It opened in November 2022. The bar has also operated at the Kimpton Hotel Theta in Times Square, Midtown Manhattan.[2][3][4] In August 2026, the business announced plans to open another location in Portland, Oregon's Heathman Hotel.

The bar operates in One Maritime Plaza (exterior pictured in 2025), in San Francisco's Financial District.

Bar Sprezzatura operates at One Maritime Plaza in San Francisco's Financial District.[5][6] The interior has been described as "elegant" and "stylish", with tall ceilings, velvet couches,[7] wood panelling,[8] and large standing lamps.[5][9] The dining room has blue and goldenrod tones.[10] Flora Tsapovsky of Eater SF has described the bar as a "glimmering testament to both modernity and luxury", writing: "Stepping into the bar might feel like being transported to the set of White Lotus".[11] David Landis of the San Francisco Bay Times called the bar "buzzy" and "ultra-chic".[12]

The New York location is a rooftop restaurant.[13][14][15]

The bar has a rotating "Venetian bacari-inspired" menu, according to Axios Portland,[16] and Italian bar snacks.[17] The menu has included cichetti, crudo, pastas, and salads.[18] The bar has also served arancini, caviar,[19] deviled eggs,[20] and pizza.[7] Drink options include an espresso martini,[7] negronis,[21][22] Italian wines, and beers.[23] The Negroni Caffe has Tuaca, Fernet, espresso liqueur, and coffee liqueur.[24] One martini has was flavored with tomato and balsamic vinegar.[25] Another $40 martini has truffle-infused vodka.[26]

History

The San Francisco location opened in November 2022.[27][28][29] The New York location opened in September 2024.[30][31]

In New York, Alex Floethe has been the general manager and Trevor Kalafus has been the executive chef. Phil Collins ihas been the director of beverage and Carlo Splendorino is a partner and mixologist.[32][33]

In August 2026, the business announced plans to open another location in Portland, Oregon's Heathman Hotel.[34][35] It is slated to begin operating in October 2026.[36][37]

Reception

Esquire included the business in a 2023 list of the nation's best bars.[38]
