Sri Balaji Mandir is a Hindu temple located in Pashan, a suburb of Pune, Maharashtra, India.[1] Managed as a regional branch of the Ahobila Mutt, a Sri Vaishnava religious institution, the temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) and serves as an important spiritual center for the Sri Vaishnava community in western India.[2]
History
The temple project was established in 1998 under the auspices of Sri Ahobila Mutt, with financial and administrative support from the Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha Sabha of Pune.[1] The primary sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) and idols were officially consecrated on 4 February 2002 in the presence of Srimad Azhagiyasingar, the 45th pontiff (Jeer) of Sri Ahobila Mutt.[2]
Architecture and layout
Built in the traditional South Indian Dravidian architectural style, the temple's structural design and deity arrangements are modeled after the Tirumala Tirupati Temple.[1] The complex features a carved gopuram (entrance tower) and separate sanctums (sannidhis) dedicated to Goddess Padmavati, Lakshmi Nrusimha, Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman, and Garuda.[2] Daily rituals and major annual festivals such as Brahmotsavam and Vaikuntha Ekadashi follow strict Pancharatra Agamic traditions.[2]
