Love for Sale (Spanish:Amor vendido) is a 1951 Mexican musical crime drama film directed by Joaquín Pardavé and starring Fernando Fernández, Meche Barba and Óscar Pulido.[1]

Plot

The narrative is structured around a high-stakes murder trial told through a series of dramatic flashbacks. Adriana (Meche Barba) is a sorrowful cabaret dancer navigating the dangerous underworld of urban nightlife. She is pursued by Raúl (Fernando Fernández), a sensitive, physically disabled composer who is unconditionally in love with her and hopes to redeem her from her painful lifestyle.

Despite Raúl's good intentions, Adriana is trapped in a toxic and volatile relationship with her lover, Carlos Vela, a ruthless and abusive gangster known in the criminal underworld as "El Perfumado" (Carlos Valadez). The situation reaches a crisis point when Adriana is subjected to immense physical suffering, exploitation, and abuse at the hands of the criminal element surrounding the cabaret.

When Carlos explicitly threatens the life of the vulnerable composer, Adriana takes drastic action to protect Raúl. In a climactic confrontation, she shoots and kills the gangster. Arrested for the homicide, Adriana takes the stand in court to recount her tragic history, exposing the systemic exploitation of the nightlife industry while attempting to justify the ultimate sacrifice she made for the man who truly loved her.
