Career

Marceniuk earned a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Catholic University of Santos from 1988 to 1992 and a master's degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the University of São Paulo from 1994 to 1997.[1]

He specializes in taxonomy, phylogenetics, and biogeography of marine and estuarine fishes, particularly species in the family Ariidae.[1]

In 2007, together with his colleague Naércio Aquino de Menezes, he described the new genus Amphiarius.[2] The genus was established in their work:

Marceniuk, A. P. & Menezes, N. A. (2007). "Systematics of the family Ariidae (Ostariophysi, Siluriformes), with a redefinition of the genera". Zootaxa 1416: 1–126.

Marceniuk is a professor at the Universidade de Mogi das Cruzes in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, Brazil.
