A. R. M. Luthful Kabir (Bengali: এ আর এম লুৎফুল কবীর; born 22 February 1957) is a Bangladeshi physician[1] and academic.[a] He was the executive director of Institute of Child and Mother Health, Dhaka.[6][7] He was also the head of pediatrics department and professor at different government and private medical colleges.[8][9]

Early life and education

A. R. M. Luthful Kabir was born in 1956 at Daudkandi Upazila, Comilla, Bangladesh, the then East Pakistan.[10] He passed SSC from Mymensingh Zilla School. He passed MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College in 1980.[10] He completed fellowship from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1988.[11] He had clinical fellowship in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine from Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in 1995.[12] He is married to professor Dr. Nazneen Kabir.[13]

Career

He was the head of Pediatrics and full time professor at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, Faridpur Medical College and Sir Salimullah Medical College.[14] He was the founder General Secretary and also the president of Bangladesh Pediatric Pulmonology Forum.[15][16] He is also the life member of Bangladesh Paediatric Association.[17][18] He was also the head of Pediatrics Department at Ad-din Women's Medical College.[19][20] He is currently the Chief Adviser of the Bangladesh Pediatric Pulmonology Forum.[21]

Publications

Kabir has more[22] than 150 scientific publications.[23][24][25] Some of the books are: Pediatric Practice on Parents' Presentation (2011), Shishu-0-Hashi (2015), Atlas on Clinical Pediatrics (2016), Clinical and Visual Pediatrics (2019), Pediatric Clinical Radiology and Imaging (2022).[10]

Awards and honors

He received Thanks Letter for research from the Director General of Health Services of Bangladesh Prof Abul Kalam Azad in 2017.[10] In 2018 Tofayel Ahmed Memorial Award by Bangladesh Palli Shishu Foundation for his academic and research contribution.[10]

On 15 February 2023, he was also given a lifetime achievement award by Bangladesh Lung Foundation (BLF) in the 7th International Pulmocon held in Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.[10][26]
